Tow bar – detachable / Australia - Does Not Include Fitment or Wiring
The tow bar is another of the practical extras from the ŠKODA Original Accessories range that increase the utility of the vehicle. Manufactured from high-quality materials, it has undergone rigorous testing for strength and resistance to corrosion, as well as load tests. The tow bar complies with homologation E8 55R-01 55657 and all Czech and international regulations, and its electrical wiring has been tested successfully for electromagnetic compatibility. The tow bar is lockable, thereby deterring any thieves. Thanks to the simple, automatic mechanism for fitting and removing the ball hitch, no tools are needed – meaning that it is much simpler to meet the legal requirements for removing the ball hitch when the trailer is uncoupled. When you are driving abroad, the country-specific legal regulations must be followed at all times if you have not attached a trailer to the tow bar fitted to your car. Retrofitting a tow bar to your vehicle increases the demand on its cooling system. As a result, depending on the equipment fitted to the vehicle, the cooling system
components will need to be replaced in accordance with the information either held by workshop technicians in authorised ŠKODA AUTO specialist service centres or available in B2B. This tow bar set is intended exclusively for vehicles exported to Australia.
The electrical wiring set is not included and must be ordered as follows from the ŠKODA Original Accessories range, depending on what equipment is fitted to the vehicle:
Suits Wagon and Sedan
Maximum trailing load: Braked – up to 1600 kg; for four-wheel drive vehicles – 2000 kg; unbraked – up to 720 kg; The trailing load limits as specified in the registration document shall apply.
Maximum bearing load: Front-wheel drive Octavia, Octavia Combi – 75 kg, Octavia Combi 4x4 – 80 kg.
Set contents: Holder for the tow bar, ball hitch with key for the control lever lock, fastening bolts, protective cap for the towball, cover cap for the mounting recess, fitting instructions.
Restriction: Not available for Octavia Greenline vehicles manufactured between week 45/2013 and week 05/2014, the Octavia Combi Scout or for natural gas vehicles.
Warranty: 24 months.
Due to the complex nature of the work required, as well as the subsequent activation of the tow bar (the five-digit task code can be found in the spare parts catalogue (ETKA)), fitting must be carried out by an authorised ŠKODA AUTO service partner.
